Hello Murray

Lots to do in this small, friendly town

Saturday, February 22, 2020 📽️ Cinema International: The Raven

Starting at 7:30 PM at MSU Curris Center

Considered to be the first "Film Noir", it is also one of the most discussed films in the History of French Cinema! A French doctor becomes the target of a vicious series of poison-pen letters spreading rumors, suspicion and fear among the inhabitants of the small French town of Saint Robin, and one after another, they turn on each other as their hidden secrets are unveiled - but the one secret that no-one can uncover is the identity of the letters' author...Controversial on several accounts, the film caused serious problems for its director after World War II as it had been produced by Continental Films, a German production company under the Occupation. Clouzot was initially banned for life from directing in France, but after protests, only until 1947. The film was suppressed until 1969 and was remade as The 13th Letter (1951) by Otto Preminger. A French classic not to be missed!
